“Despite our compatriots who fall for everything Trump says, there are plenty of Republicans who held their nose and voted to reelect him. They can’t stand the guy but support GOP policies no matter the vessel. But despite this, Biden won handily with more votes than any presidential candidate in history and a popular vote lead closing in on 7 million – one of the largest margins ever. History is also not on Trump’s side. The only incumbent president to lose his reelection, only to regain it four years later was Grover Cleveland – who won in 1884, lost in 1888, and took back the White House in 1892. The difference is that in each of those three elections Cleveland won the popular vote, losing reelection because of the quirks of the Electoral College map. Trump, for his part, has lost the popular vote by huge margins in each of his two elections. And Biden, in contrast to Trump, has significant room to expand his standing. The incoming president will get full credit for the country’s economic revival – and he will reach those Americans who are desperate to be healed again. Every time Trump taps the keyboard, the majority of the country will breathe a sigh of relief that he’s just irrelevant and desperate. Biden will benefit from the contrast. While Trump breathes fire, Biden’s cool reads the country’s temperature more accurately.”
“So let me be the first Democrat to say it: Please run again, Mr. Trump. You may be able to troll Biden a little. You may be able to distract entertainment news a bit. But you’re not going to win. Biden will be more popular in four years after he’s fixed the mess you’ve left. Your continued loser status is the best news cycle for all of us” – Michael Gordon, Business Insider.
