Just three days after Christmas Day, the United States has hit a new high in hospitalizations, with a 2% increase in the last 24 hours to more than 121,000 patients, according to the COVID Tracking Project.
The US had been averaging about 185,000 hospitaliations since the holiday, but the number of in-patients jumped by more than 2,500 in one day to 121,235, topping the previous high set December 24th.
Since Christmas, the United States has averaged 1,500 fatalities per day, although data over that time may be underreported because of holiday slowdowns in processing reports.
