The Biden Administration announced it will withdraw the nomination of Neera Tanden to be the head of the Office of Management and Budget, dealing the administration its first significant defeat, the Washington Post reports.
“I have accepted Neera Tanden’s request to withdraw her name from nomination for Director of the Office of Management and Budget,” President Biden said in a statement. “I have the utmost respect for her record of accomplishment, her experience and her counsel, and I look forward to having her serve in a role in my administration. She will bring valuable perspective and insight to our work.”
Tanden’s nomination derailed after Senators objected to her use of social media to attack and insult Republicans. Many noted that there seemed to be a double standard for females and Democratic nominees due to the habit of Republicans like Donald Trump and Richard Grennell to use social media to personal insult and attack their political enemies.
