The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed in record territory Wednesday, ending the day above 32,000 for the first time as investors prepare for a recovery thanks to a new stimulus bill and rapidly deployed vaccines that will likely reopen the US economy.
The Senate-approved $1.9 trillion stimulus program passed the House Wednesday afternoon and is expected to be signed by President Joe Biden tomorrow, which will put at least $1,400 into the hands most American families and cut childhood poverty by more than half.
The DJIA finished the day up 464 points, at 32,297, a record high. NASDAQ finished slightly lower after hitting its record high during the Gamestop market manipulation Reddit scheme, and the S&P 500 was up slightly, but finished about 1% short of its record high.
Even though the DJIA hit a new high, gratefully, there was no tweet from the President or the White House touting the achievement as a personal record for the office holder.
