KBOI: “Scott Bedke, Speaker of the Idaho House, held a press conference Friday to announce a recess in the Legislature after a COVID-19 outbreak. Both the House and the Senate will return on April 6 after six positive cases were found among lawmakers. This news comes as the Legislature is debating a bill that would ban local governments from requiring that people wear masks.”
“Bedke is hopeful the two-week hiatus will give lawmakers time to work out kinks in bills that are taking longer than anticipated. The Speaker responded to a question saying the move is not motivated by politics. Bedke was pressed about relooking at safety protocols due to the pause in legislation and said he would elevate the issue, but won’t go so far as to tell lawmakers what to do.”
