The Santa Clara County (California) coroner’s office identified the eight victims of the mass shooting at the Valley Transportation Authority, reportedly the place of employment for the shooter, the Associated Press reports.
Per the coroner’s office, the eight victims, all employees of the Transportation Authority, were:
- Paul Delacruz Megia, 42;
- Taptejdeep Singh, 36;
- Adrian Balleza, 29;
- Jose Dejesus Hernandez, 35;
- Timothy Michael Romo, 49;
- Michael Joseph Rudometkin, 40;
- Abdolvahab Alaghmandan, 63, and
- Lars Kepler Lane, 63.
An additional victim, who was not identified, is hospitalized in critical condition.
The shooter was identified as 57-year-old Sam Cassidy. It is believed Cassidy took his own life. His ex-wife, Cecilia Nelms, told The Associated Press that Cassidy had a bad temper and would tell her that he wanted to kill people at work, “but I never believed him, and it never happened. Until now.”
Cassidy’s attack apparently coincided with a floor meeting of union members at the start of a shift, when a number of employees were grouped together.
