Short of wearing a ball-gag and a leather harness on his broadcasts, Peter Doocy can do little else to humiliate himself more than asking White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki questions.

Picking up on his debunked line of inquiry from yesterday’s press briefing, Doocy basically asked a version of the “How long have you been beating your wife” question:  “For how long has the administration been spying on people Facebook profiles looking for vaccine misinformation?”

“That was quite a loaded and inaccurate question,” Psaki immediately responded, to which Doocy bleated something in response.  “Well, Peter, as you know, we’re in a regular a range of media outlets,” Psaki continued as Doocy attempted to repeatedly interrupt her.

“As… As… As… Let me finish.  As we are… As we are in regular touch with social media platforms.  This is publicly open information.  People sharing information online just as you are reporting information on your news station,” Psaki said in a very generous characterization of Fox News.

In yesterday’s press briefing, there was no statement that the federal government was “spying” on people’s Facebook posts.  (Is it possible to “spy” on something people post publicly anyway?)  Psaki and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy noted that US public health officials were working with social media platforms to combat the dissemination of incorrect information about the coronavirus and available vaccines.
