My schadenfreude cup runneth over. Yet another right wing propagandist who has spent the last several years spouting the Trump gospel is critically ill with Covid19. Nashville Tennesee propagandist Phil Valentine, the host of a right-wing radio talk show is in a hospital critical care unit.
“Phil Valentine, who hosts a show bearing his name on WWTN-FM in Nashville, contracted the coronavirus a little more than a week ago and is battling pneumonia, his family said in a statement posted on Twitter.”
““He is in the hospital in the critical care unit breathing with assistance but is NOT on a ventilator,” the family said. “Phil would like for his listeners to know that while he has never been an “anti-vaxer” he regrets not being more vehemently “Pro-Vaccine”, and looks forward to being able to more vigorously advocate that position as soon as he is back on the air, which we all hope will be soon,” reports NBC News.
There’s a saying among recovering alcoholics that “You can’t help people who don’t want your help. Sometimes you have to learn to just step over the bodies.” A lot of people who have never dealt personally with the problem of addiction may complain that statement is defeatist, but it’s just the way things are when it comes to people who repeatedly refuse your help. We are clearly at that point with the MAGA community in the United States, and the only rational response to news of right-wing propagandists who have a history of spouting anti-mask and anti-vax propaganda getting sick is to sit by and wait for the MAGA community to hit their bottom, realize that they’ve been a victim of agitative propaganda, and start acting like responsible adults when it comes to dealing with Covid19.
Let’s all hope that point comes sooner rather than later.
