South Florida Sun-Sentinel: “Florida is investigating potential violators of the state’s COVID ‘vaccine passport’ law, including the Miami Marlins, the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, several concert venues and performers, and an FDLE counterterrorism unit. The city of Miramar and the Plantation Police Department are on the list of businesses, nonprofits and government agencies under investigation, although some of those on the list, including Miramar and the Broward Center, said their policies comply with the state law. Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam said it ‘is such a surprise we are being investigated.'”
“In April, Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order that prohibited Florida businesses from requiring that customers show proof that they have been vaccinated against COVID-19, following through on his promise to ban controversial immunization credentials. The state then enacted a law that made his order permanent, which DeSantis signed in May. In September he vowed to issue $5,000 fines for anybody who violated the law. Chistina Pushaw, press secretary to DeSantis, said by email Monday that ‘an investigation is not a finding of a violation’ and referred further enforcement questions to the Department of Health. The Miami Marlins is the only major sports team that appears on the list of groups under investigation. The 120 cases ‘under review’ were identified in a list released by the Department of Health in response to a public records request.”
