Politico has reviewed and released two explosive documents in the hands of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th domestic terrorist attack on Congress, and both show the Trump cabal’s plans to advance the insurrection were more comprehensive than originally believed.
One of the documents is an executive order, dated December 16, 2020, demanding the Secretary of Defense seize voting machines from jurisdictions around the country. It also installed a Special Counsel to investigate election integrity, even though dozens of investigations have uncovered no malfeasance in the conduct of the election.
The second document seems to be a public statement that Trump would release or read to placate the fears of the American public as he shredded the Constitution and illegally stayed in the White House after nullifying the election. It contains innumerable false statements about Trump’s actions to quell the violence on January 6, 2020.
“I would like to begin today by addressing the heinous attack that took place yesterday at the United States Capitol,” it opens. “Like all Americans, I was outraged and sickened by the violence, lawlessness and mayhem. I immediately deployed the National Guard and federal law enforcement to secure the building and expel the intruders. America is, and must always be, a nation of law and order.”
The authors of the documents are not known. The existence of these documents show that the Trump plan to overturn the election was far more planned than originally thought.
The idea to seize voting machines was promoted by people like Sidney “The Kraken” Powell and former Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne. The pair, along with the people urging Trump to unilaterally overturn the election, met with Trump December 18, 2020 to encourage him to take illegal action to hold onto office.
