Limestone County, Alabama man and methamphetamine enthusiast Mickey Joel Paulk’s trial on charges of possession of a wild animal, stolen property, and possession of a weapon by a felon had been expected to start this week but prosecutors got stuck with some extra paperwork after Paulk was arrested again on December 23rd, 2021 for charges of chemical endangerment of a child, trafficking methamphetamine, and some other drug and weapons charges, AL.com reports, lest anyone think we’re making this shit up. Cops originally raided Paulk’s shack in June 2019, acting on a tip he kept a caged squirrel and fed it meth to keep it aggressive. Sure enough it was there, but “there was no safe way to test the squirrel for meth,” said Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely’s office in a statement following the raid. The squirrel, whose name or if it even had a name was not made public, was released into a wooded area by sheriff’s deputies. Its whereabouts are unknown.
