A North Carolina double-amputee in need of a kidney transplant vowed that he would rather die than submit to the government tyranny of vaccine requirements even though it’s not a government policy to require transplant patients to have the coronavirus vaccine, WSOC ABC-9 in Charlotte reports.
Chad Carswell gets dialysis three times each week because his kidneys are only operating at 4% efficiency. Carswell has other pre-existing health conditions–including having gone through multiple major heart surgeries–but when told he would need to get a vaccine to get a transplant at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, Carswell said he would just die instead.
“No sir, I was born free. I will die free. I’m not changing my mind,” Carswell said. “I’ve had conversations with my family and everybody who is close to me and they know where I stand and there will not be a situation that occurs where I’ll change my mind on this topic.”
Of course, this has nothing to do with his freedom. No government is forcing him, by law, to get the vaccine. This is about medical professionals giving a transplant patient the best odds of surviving after the transplant, and making sure the priceless transplant organ goes to the recipient with the best chances of survival.
