Fighting broke out over the weekend in cities across Sweden between the Muslim community and a group of Danish white nationalists after members of a Danish far right white nationalist group attempted to stage a Koran burning in the city of Malmo, the Associated Press reports.
In the central city of Orebro on Friday at least four police vehicles were torched and 12 cops injured as counterprotestors raged over the white supremacist group Stram Kurs’ (“Hard Line” in English) plan to publicly burn a Koran there. On Saturday Stram Kurs’ leader Rasmus Paludan – a Dane with Swedish citizenship – was hit with a rock as he addressed a crowd in the city of Malmo – which is just across a strait from the Danish capital Copenhagen. Related unrest was also reported in the Swedish capital Stockholm and in the cities of Linkoping and Norrkoping since Thursday.
