The United States added 390,000 new jobs in March and the unemployment rate remained at 3.6%, according to the latest jobs report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, raising the total number of jobs created during the Biden Administration to 8.7 million in just 16 months.
Hourly wages increase by 0.5% last month, with a 5.2% increase over the previous twelve months. Industries that saw the greatest increase in jobs were leisure & hospitality; professional & business services; transportation & warehousing; and construction.
One industry that has seen a major increase in jobs since Joe Biden was inaugurated was mining, which has gained 80,000 jobs since February 2021. The subset of oil and gas extraction has seen a jump of 26,000 jobs–or 24%–since February 2021.
