- Republicans have unwittingly unleashed hell, and some of them know it. Eliminating states’ rights to permit virtually anyone to get a carry permit while simultaneously eliminating the right for women to seek an abortion goes against the will of the People. Every woman and woman’s rights advocate will be voting in the midterms. Any seat that was not “Safe Red” will now lean more Democratic.
- The current pseudo-conservative line of political thought will soon collapse. As people see gun proliferation, they will be frightened of the nutbags carrying them. As they see the rise of single-parent households, the demand for social safety net programs will increase–something current “pro-family conservatives” won’t support.
- How many men will be forced to receive a Father’s Day card one year from today–and I mean forced by Greg Abbott or Ron DeSantis or Kay Ivey?
- Watch for an increase in rape accusations in the coming month as young women in places like Texas and Missouri start telling suitors there will be no sex. Drunken MAGAt men now believe that a gun and a penis are all they need to get what they want.
- I liked it better when members of Congress were full-time legislators and not people who work at the Capitol between podcast gigs.
- Imagine the GOP outcry if Hillary Clinton had called even one state elections official in December 2016. It would make the 10 Benghazi “investigations” look like baby pageants.
- Lady Ruby and Shaye Moss did nothing wrong yet had to go into hiding. Donald Trump ruined their lives and gets cheers from his cult. The ladies are low-key heroes in America; Trump is the supervillain who constantly brags about his plan.
- Mo Brooks volunteering to testify to the January 6th Committee shows you how shallow the dedication to “Trumpism” really is when you stop benefiting from Trump.
- Republicans need to get on the right side of the law AND the right side of history.
- Child support payments will be a major issue in the 2026 midterms. Bros like Dave Portnoy and Greg Gutfeld–he’ll still be trying to be a bro then–will complain that being forced to pay expenses for children men don’t want is un-American and should be illegal.
- January 6th Committee members say they’ve received so much new information from the tip line it set up, it needs to reschedule future hearings for July to have time to process them. Those are likely tips from hundreds of election workers at every level of government from around the country telling investigators about more crimes.
- The GOP calculated that no one will remember this day during the November midterms and in 2024. They calculated wrong.
- I enjoyed watching the Mark Twain Prize ceremony for Jon Stewart, and I think entirely he warrants the recognition. But please–can we stop touting every famous person we like to be President? Should he enter politics, I think Stewart is smart enough to know to start at the ground floor and work his way up–maybe a state seat or perhaps US House–if he even wants to enter politics, which I doubt.
- I disagree with former Acting Attorney General Rosen, who said the Justice Department’s only client is the United States federal government. I think the DOJ’s only client is the American People. That’s who the DOJ represents.
- Clarence Thomas told us what’s next: revocation of rights for LGBTQ people and revocation of birth control’s legality. This is why Clarence and Ginni Thomas should not be on the bench.
- Best ways you can help women seeking an abortion: donate to one of the many funds set up help women (You can even donate airmiles to some); volunteer to lodge women if you live in a state where abortion remains legal; run for office; make sure you explain the consequences of this decision to young people. And sign up to be an poll worker so the GOP thugs don’t take over that process.
- News organizations are telling their reporters to resist the urge to tweet personal opinions or retweet posts that reflect their opinions about the abortion decision. This is the wrong idea. Journalists are the original influencers. If they’re allowed to speak their minds–assuming those opinions are not dictated by the network management like at Fox–they should be allowed to. It was only after Cronkite came out against the Vietnam war that policy changed.
- Happy Zeromas Eve! I hope you imbibed in the celebratory beverage, intoxicant or food of your choice… because we believe in choice.
- Man, I really picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.
