“As the full picture is coming into view with the January 6th Committee, it has become clear that the efforts oversaw and engaged in were even more chilling and threatening than we can imagine,” Wyoming Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney said at The Future of Republican Party seminar being held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.
According to CNN, later in the speech, Cheney explicitly called out Trump and his lackeys in GOP leadership, calling them a threat to American democracy: “We are confronting a domestic threat that we have never faced before – and that is a former President who is attempting to unravel the foundations of our constitutional Republic. And he is aided by Republican leaders and elected officials who have made themselves willing hostages to this dangerous and irrational man.”
An exiled Republican in Washington because she’s participating in the House Select Committee investigating the domestic terrorist attack on Congress, Cheney gave a blunt opinion of Trump and his malfeasance, and she received a loud ovation from the largely-Republican crowd.
