One of the Secret Service agents at the center of the story about Donald Trump trying to seize the steering wheel of an SUV to redirect it to the Capitol on January 6, 2021 has announced he’s resigning from the Secret Service, CNN reports.
Tony Ornato, the Deputy Director of the Secret Service who at one point led the detail assigned to protect Trump and later became Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff, has been eligible for retirement for years. His announcement comes two months after testimony before the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th Republican-led domestic terrorist attack on Congress by Cassidy Hutchinson, who said Ornato related the story of Trump trying to grab the steering wheel to her.
