Fox News anchor Bret Baier, often regarded as one of the few non-crazy assholes at the right wing propaganda network, was adamant on election night 2020 that the Fox decision desk reverse its now-infamous early call for Joe Biden in Arizona – and not just changing it back to “too close to call” but projecting disgraced former President Trump to be the winner in the state – according to internal messages obtained by New York Times reporter Peter Baker and New Yorker writer Susan Glasser for their new book “The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021.”
“The Trump campaign was really pissed,” Baier wrote in an email to Fox News president Jay Wallace. “This situation is getting uncomfortable. Really uncomfortable. I keep having to defend this on air… It’s hurting us. The sooner we pull it – even if it gives us major egg – and we put it back in his column the better we are in my opinion.” Baier that night he’d been getting text messages from the Trump Regime, and asked the decision desk director Arnon Mishkin to come into the studio and explain what went into the call, saying “we’re getting a lot of incoming here.”
