Sniveling weasel Ted Cruz (R-Quintana Roo), the man who abandoned his dog in a snowstorm when the power went out to flee to a Ritz Carlton resort on the Mayan Riviera and who supported the presidency of the man who called his wife “a dog,” wants you to learn a lesson from the shellacking the Republicans took in the midterms. That lesson: the GOP stands for nothing, and that people really like Democratic policies.
“And here’s a lesson you can take from last night: Look, why do the Democrats do better than expected? Because for two years, they’ve governed as liberals. They’ve governed as whacked-out leftie nutjobs and ya know what that did? That excited their base. That excited a bunch of young voters that came out in massive numbers because when you actually stand for something, your base gets excited. There’s a lesson for Republicans to learn, which is when we have a majority next year, we damn well better act like it and use it.”
Well, yeah, Ted. You could be on to something. Imagine in politics, politicians who actually did things their constituents want and govern, not rule. (I know that must be shocking to Republican ears.) Imagine politicians enacting legislation that helps their constituents, not taking away healthcare, canceling social safety net programs or starting endless show-pony impeachment actions or sham “investigations” into non-existent voting fraud, which is exactly what the GOP ran on. It also helps that what the GOP stands for–forced birth, higher debt, lower status for working families, massive military spending (but not using our military might to defend democracy), dismantling the Constitution, and supporting Donald Trump’s lifestyle–are not what voters want.
