Turkey-Syria quake death toll passes 11,000

The official death toll from a series of massive earthquakes in southern Turkey that also shook neighboring Syria on Monday rose past 11,000 on Wednesday, becoming the deadliest earthquake worldwide in since the 2011 Japan quake and tsunami, the Associated Press reports.
