Usually after a bad day for MAGA world it’s easy enough to put together a rundown of their reactions like the one we did last week after fat former President Trump was indicted. But Tuesday was different as on multiple fronts they got punched in the dick in different ways – Trump’s arraignment, the Wisconsin state Supreme Court flipping, liberal Brandon Johnson winning the mayorship in Chicago, and the DC appeals court tossing Trump’s assertion of executive privilege over his White House minions’ testimony to the grand jury investigating his coup attempt. So it’s difficult to pick one random unhinged reader’s comment or one editorial take from the alternate universe for us to elevate and mock appropriately – even from within just this one site RedState.com there are the hilariously sad pieces “Biden’s Reaction to Trump Arraignment Just Might Make Your Blood Boil” and “Democrats Are Laughing at You.” The second one in particular displays a dim awareness that the Wisconsin loss is the kind of shit that happens when they’re distracted by Trump’s clusterfucks.
But this one, “The Walls Are (Once Again) ‘Closing in’ on Trump,” wins by a clear if not overwhelming margin. The TLDR of the open is “Hahaha libs! Even your legal experts think Bragg’s case against Trump is weak but the stupid media are going to say the walls are still closing in on him anyway!”
After that is when writer Joe Cunningham gets to the “Oh fuck” part: “Now, to be completely honest with you, having talked to some legal analysts off the record, the Georgia investigation and the DOJ’s investigations are far more problematic for Trump and will likely lead to very tough legal challenges for Trump in the midst of his campaign to take back the White House (I think the investigation in Georgia is probably the far more serious of the two) [Cunningham punctuates with a fantasy that a failure by Bragg will affect Jack Smith and Fani Willis’s cases against Trump] …Those other investigations are where the press will go next, using Bragg’s indictment of Trump as the launchpad to say that all of Trump’s legal issues are really going to start rolling in.”
“And while, on a technical level, that is not an incorrect assessment it’s still done to craft a narrative that the walls are, indeed, closing in on Trump, despite the fact that we are still a long way away from the walls even budging. That narrative-crafting undermines the reality of the situation as much as Bragg has because those same journalists are creating an expectation that, any moment now, the Feds will haul Trump off and he’ll never be a threat to us ever again. That’s simply not going to be the case, regardless of whether or not Trump is guilty of everything he’s been accused of and more.”
So if we have this correct, that the media are prematurely overhyping the real legal danger to Trump, that the walls are actually closing in on him in Georgia and DC, but just not yet at this current juncture, is somehow a big win for conservatives and a loss for libs. Or at least worth pointing out in a long analysis piece like this one. How much is this guy getting paid to write this?
