An anonymous Trump minion told the Washington Post on Tuesday that the twice-impeached former president’s 2024 campaign is “going to be very aggressive in attacking” the verdict finding Donald liable for sexually abusing and defaming writer EJ Carroll, adding “We’re going to lay out pieces of evidence and the story that the judge did not necessarily allow in the courtroom,” as if relitigating that shit on the campaign trail is something that’s going to play well with swing voters.
“My gut assessment is this won’t be that big of a deal” with Republican primary voters, the minion said, probably correctly. Still, the verdict left some Republicans in Congress uneasy, with North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer going on the record and saying “His first go-around, there were a lot of swing-type voters who were open to the opportunity and I think a lot of those voters abandoned him in the second go-around and this reminds them of why,” and Texas Senator John Cornhole telling CBS’s Scott MacFarlane “I don’t think [Trump] can get elected.”
