US Coast Guard Rear Admiral John Mauger on Wednesday said they’re not sure what the hell the noise picked up by an undersea probe in the North Atlantic was but it might’ve been from those plucky explorers who got lost on their way to check out the haunted Titanic wreck, the BBC reports.
“This has happened in a remote location, we have prioritized our efforts both on surface and subsurface search,” said Mauger who said acoustics experts are analyzing the noise to see if it might have been one of the missing explorers banging on the side of their submersible. Mauger said they still haven’t been able to pinpoint the location from where the noise came, but have narrowed down the search area to try to mount a rescue of tour company OceanGate Expedition CEO Stockton Rush, British Billionaire Hamish Harding, Pakistani-British businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19 year-old son Suleman, and French submersible pilot Paul-Henri Nargeolet.
