Donald Trump, August 21, 2021: “Adam Laxalt is running for Senate in Nevada to defeat Harry Reid’s, Chuck Schumer’s, and Nancy Pelosi’s handpicked successor, and win an America First majority in the US Senate. Adam is a Navy Veteran who served our Nation bravely in Iraq. As a former Attorney General he’s always supported our Law Enforcement and keeping our communities safe. He fought valiantly against the Election Fraud, which took place in Nevada. He is strong on Secure Borders and defending America against the Radical Left. Adam has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”
Donald Trump, July 8, 2023: “Laxalt was a very weak candidate. He was pathetic. You know, I helped Laxalt do the best he could. I guess his grandfather was strong. His father was good. But, I guess the chain got weaker. But, Adam Laxalt is a stiff and he didn’t do the job. He was a lawyer. He was working for a lot of different people on trying to do the vote thing, but he wasn’t the right guy.”
That second one is was actually part of a response to a question from Nevada Globe reporter Megan Barth, who in a Saturday interview asked “So let’s talk Nevada. Governor Lombardo lost Clark County by six points. He lost Washoe county by two points. Yet, he still won the governorship. Additionally, he’s recently signed legislation that awards $25 million to the Culinary Union. The Nevada GOP believes that that money is going to be used for ballot harvesting. Proponents claim it’s going to be used for a ‘capital improvement project’ that hasn’t been identified. A GOP presidential candidate hasn’t won Nevada since 2004. You lost Nevada twice. How do you win Nevada?”
To which Trump said “I think I won the last time. I think I won both times by a lot [emphasis ours]. This is a state that is disgraceful [emphasis also ours, because he’s ripping the whole state]. You know, we sued on the basis of …they robbed the vote at a level. We had a lawsuit that was so good and the judge didn’t want to see it. He didn’t even want to see it. We had a lawsuit that was, in my opinion, conclusive…” before the part about failed Senate candidate Adam Laxalt that we clipped out above to contrast with the 2021 endorsement. Besides Arizona AG loser Abe Hamadeh, Laxalt actually came the closest to winning out of the many, many runners up in Trump’s 2022 MAGA slate, edged out by incumbent Dem Senator Catherine Cortez Masto by only about 7,000 votes.
So yeah, it was actually tough to choose what to lead with here, but Trump utterly urinating on his handpicked 2022 Senate candidate wins out, if only slightly over him claiming that he won Nevada twice and then calling the entire state “disgraceful” and not say, just its courts or election system.
