The Putin Regime on Monday announced the suspension of the Turkey and UN-brokered agreement in which they allowed vessels carrying Ukrainian grain exports to leave ports safely, CNN reports.
Kremlin spokesworm Dmitry Peskov said the deal “has been terminated” until the Russians get relief from sanctions on their own food exports. “As soon as the Russian part is completed, the Russian side will return to the implementation of this deal immediately,” said Peskov. Ukraine’s agriculture sector remains a major contributor to the global food supply even amidst the ongoing Russian invasion of the country and any renewed disruption could cause a rebound in inflation.
