The former Orange-Osceola state attorney is asking the Florida Supreme Court to take up her case, alleging Republican Governor Ron DeSantis illegally removed her from her elected office, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
As a series of protests occurred across Florida in support of Monique Worrell, the ousted Orange-Osceola attorney, and former Hillsborough state attorney Andrew Warren, who was removed from office last year. Both prosecutors were targeted by conservative stalwarts who claimed they weren’t prosecuting enough crimes amid accusations that they were corrupted by billionaire George Soros.
