An airport in the heavily Muslim Russian region of Dagestan was overrun by a crowd of angry locals who stormed the place looking to murder passengers disembarking an inbound flight from Tel-Aviv, according to an Associated Press report and a few tweets. The AP report seems to be almost minimizing the situation by calling it a protest. A tweet by Wall Street Journal chief foreign affairs correspondent Yaroslav Trofimov with a video describing the scene as “Mobs break into the Makhachkala airport, in Russia’s north Caucasus, looking to lynch Jews after rumors spread about the arrival of Jewish refugees from Israel” seems like it might’ve been a little more accurate.
