Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, himself a retired colonel in the Air Force, calls out GOP colleague Alabama’s Tommy Tuberville for his continued hold on the promotion of top-ranked military officers in a misguided protest against abortion that has risked the US military’s readiness. The speech was likely caused by the health concerns of Gen. Mark Smith, the commandant of the Marine Corps, who was hospitalized after doing the job of the commandant and vice-commandant because of Tuberville’s unprecedented move. More than 200 staff and senior officer positions remain unfilled because of Tuberville’s hold.
