A New York City-area congresswoman tells CNN that the House GOP should probably just throw in the towel on their shambolic and evidence-free effort to impeach President Joe Biden, saying Republicans should just “let the American people decide in November if they want to take this country in a different direction,” rather than running into a brick wall in an election year.
The kicker is that this congresswoman isn’t a Democrat, but she’s a Republican – Representative Nicole Malliotakis of Staten Island – saying this, probably one of the best quotes you’re going to get underscoring just how shot this “inquiry” is at this point. It’s not like it wasn’t already obvious between last month’s reporting on how pissed everyone is at James Comer for being such a fucking idiot, to the House GOP again refocusing their impeachment capital to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, but hearing a Republican say pretty much exactly the same shit they said back when Trump walked in his first impeachment trial (almost four years ago to the day exactly) now when it’s a Dem president supposedly guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors says quite a lot.
Also a whole lot of good that “Let the voters decide in November” shit did when Trump attempted to ignore their decision and then got himself impeached again for inciting a violent insurrection.
Anyway, now even spandex-wearing grapple freak Jim Jordan is admitting he doesn’t know if it’s going to happen, it all “depends on the conference in the House of Representatives.” An anonymous Republican says “The window to impeach is rapidly closing.” Another says “I don’t think it goes anywhere.” Insurrectionist Freedom Caucasians chairman Scott Perry, who a few months ago kind of lost his shit when a reporter questioned the lack of evidence now tells CNN “While I think that it’s pretty clear, I don’t know that the case has been made adequately to the American people.”
Other MAGA Congressman Mike Kelly says “I have seen nothing. I really see nothing. I know what people say. And I watch the news.” Washington Congressman Dan Newhouse says “nobody is talking about” all the Hunterghazi bullshit. “I spend zero time on this,” says Californian David Valdao.
Maybe the second best quote in CNN’s excellent article is from a person they describe as a “senior GOP investigator,” who says “in today’s political environment, when you don’t have an instant conclusion and you’re not immediately able to forecast precisely what you’re going to do, members get a little frustrated,” as if they didn’t fucking act like the “instant conclusion” that would doom the “Biden Crime Family” was just around the corner again and again and again.
Hunter Biden’s scheduled February 28th deposition is seen as the last best hope to breathe some sort of new momentum into the probe – after which Comer will supposedly release his final report which he claims will have some sort of criminal referrals in it. His track record isn’t so great though.
