Barry County, Michigan Sheriff Dar Leaf appears to be as good at hiring people as he is at finding evidence that Dominion Voting Systems rigged the 2020 election against convicted felon former President Trump, which is to say fucking terrible as Undersheriff Jason Sixberry has been fired from his side gig as head coach at Hastings High School’s baseball team for what the Hastings Banner reports was “behavior that overstepped the boundaries of appropriate coach/player relationships.”
Per the Banner, Sixberry “inappropriately used social media and cell phone texting as a means of communicating with players on matters not related to the baseball program” and “regularly offered gift cards to players for reasons that are unclear, which is not only inappropriate but may also be [Michigan High School Athletic Association] rules violation,” both very much telltale signs of predatory groomer-ism. Sixberry also used “inappropriate language” around players but what the fuck kind of high school athletics coach isn’t salty on occasion? Or all the time?
“While our investigation did not find any evidence of any incident we believe to be illegal or requiring a mandated report to Child Protective Services, we did find a preponderance of evidence of situations we believe to be inappropriate in a healthy coach/player relationship,” said Athletic Director Mike Goggins in a statement that might’ve been the end of the story of some unhinged, immature weirdo getting fired for acting as such around teenagers. It happens.
However at the end of their post the Banner mentions that Sixberry is also on administrative leave from the sheriff’s office pending an investigation, which should tell you that this is actually very bad. If a boss like Dar Leaf, who called the MAGA terrorist attempt to kidnap and murder Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer a “citizen’s arrest,” aided and abetted a criminal plot to steal ballot tabulators in an ill-advised attempt to “investigate” Dominion Voting Systems, hired at least one Neo-Nazi, and defied a grand jury subpoena to produce evidence of his investigation into the 2020 election, then… well whatever Sixberry did with high schoolers was probably pretty fucked up.
Oh and the Michigan State Police are investigating him too. That might be a “preponderance” that Sixberry isn’t just some immature weirdo who says dumb shit but a full on groomer or worse.
