North Dakota Public Service Commission member and nominee for the state’s soon-to-be-vacant at-large US House seat Julie Fedorchak on Tuesday filed complaints with the FCC and FEC over a fake mass text message sent last Tuesday to thousands of voters, falsely claiming she had dropped out of the race just hours before polls closed on primary election day, KFGO reports.
Obviously Fedorchak still won, given that she’s the nominee, having taken 46 percent of the vote over rivals Rick Becker, Cara Mund, and Alexander Balazs. “We’ve alerted the US Attorney’s Office to this because they have a responsibility to ensure that our elections are run in ways that aren’t patently deceptive to voters and they have a responsibility to ensure that elections are run in a fair and impartial manner,” said campaign counsel Shane Goettle, who didn’t otherwise name names as to which one of her opponents was behind the failed Roger Stone/Nick Wohl-esque scam.
We guess it could have been a Democrat but… It’s not like all Dems are saints and would never, ever pull this kind of shit, it’s just that it seems kind of not really worth the risk when you consider that it’d be a toss-up between her and Dem candidate Trygve Hammer if Fedorchak turned out to be biologically male and was caught sprinkling fentanyl on the stuffed animal section of a toy store.
So yeah, it had to be one of the other Republicans. Should be fun to see them get nailed.
