There appears to be a discrepancy in the claims made by Telegram Channel “GITMO TV” on the value of a “MAGA 2024 Golden Plate: ‘Never Surrender’ Edition” and the small fine print at the bottom of MAGA-Neversurrender.com, the website selling them for $149 each when purchased individually, $349 for a pack of three, $499 for a pack of five, $1,299 for a 10 pack plus three “free,” $2,249 for a pack of 20 plus five “free,” $4,499 for 40 plus 10 “free,” or $5,999 for 60 plus 15 “free.”
In a post headlined “🥇 TRUMP UNVEILS THE MAGA 2024 GOLDEN PLATE: AN INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY FOR PATRIOTS,” the “GITMO TV” channel asserts that “In a recent speech, former President Donald Trump unveiled the latest initiative under his ‘Never Surrender’ campaign: the MAGA 2024 Golden Plate. Addressing his supporters, Trump emphasized the unique investment opportunity these plates represent. ‘Dear patriots,’ Trump began, ‘I would like to announce our latest project of the Never Surrender campaign, the MAGA 2024 Golden Plate. This golden plate isn’t a part of any system, and you don’t need any other products to exchange it.’ According to Trump’s announcement, each MAGA 2024 Golden Plate can be exchanged for $10,000 after a successful election outcome in 2024.” Emphasis added to highlight the part where GITMO TV attributes these statements about the item’s value to the former president in an unspecified speech.
Footage of this statement does indeed exist. In a subsequent message “GITMO TV” urged fans to watch the video, apparently from a Nevada campaign rally, posting “President Trump announced the MAGA 2024 Golden Plate as a unique investment opportunity, which can be exchanged for $10,000 at any bank or exchange office after a victorious 2024 election. IMPORTANT: Stocks are very limited on the official website, so act quickly to secure your plates. Day by day, the value of these golden plates will rise, bringing significant financial gains to investors after the election.”
However the fine print at the bottom of MAGA-Neversurrender.com’s home page at least attempts to tell a different story, with the merchants of the purportedly treasured golden sovereigns disclaiming the potential $10,000 value with “We are not going to deceit [sic] you with false promises or over-the-top advertising — we are honest hearted about our cause. We truly believe that when you buy this product, you’ll get more than just a Never Surrender – MAGA 2024 Golden Plate — you’ll get the whole package: activate customer service support, quality packaging, and a 14-day money-back guarantee! That’s right: If within 14 days after your purchase (not including weekends or holidays) you aren’t 100 percent sastisfied [sic] with our product-no matter how small-just send it back and we’ll refund your entire order price! No questions asked! This website, its owners, and associated are not affiliated with or sponsored by Trump or the Trump Campaign. This is commemorative ‘Never Surrender – MAGA 2024 Golden Plate’ is solely intended as memorabilia!”
Emphasis ours on the “false promises or over-the-top advertising” because the URL of the link posted to Telegram’s parameter says “affiliate_id=qanonq11,” meaning that it was likely specifically assigned to “GITMO TV” and thus the messaging that the plates can indeed be exchanged for $10,000 if Trump wins the 2024 election were at least tacitly endorsed by the sellers.
Now, not to get ahead of ourselves here, but we would surmise that the sellers made the calculation that if Trump were to lose the 2024 election then there’s no issue for them since obviously the $10,000 value would be no longer their problem. And if he does win then it will be the bank tellers and local law enforcement that would have to deal with the followers of “GITMO TV” who walked into a branch with 75 “Never Surrender” plates expecting $750,000 cash on the spot. Still, it’s probably less likely that a fan who found themselves out $5,999 for the plates would go through proper legal channels to file a false advertising claim and what not than it is they would drive 16 hours without stopping and burst through the door of the office in the dingy industrial park on the return shipping address with a 12-gauge shotgun and proceed to slaughter everyone working there.
So there’s a bit of risk involved here on the part of MAGA-Neversurrender.com and maybe they should be more specific than simply writing they’re not trying to “deceit” buyers with such wild claims of the potential value of these items. Like maybe addressing it specifically, like the sellers of the Trump Patriot Sticker did by adding “Statements on this website have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease,” possibly in response to one of their affiliates on Telegram making other claims.
Of course they may want to update it to refute what another channel, “HIDDEN TRUTH,” posted about the stickers: “TRUMP ANNOUNCED THE ONLY WAY TO CASH OUT YOUR FUNDS FROM THE TRUMP INVESTMENT PRODUCTS IS THROUGH THE TRUMP GOLDEN STICKERS! Ordering stickers in worth of $400 ensured a $30,000,000 return. If you want to succeed in life, you must follow your heart and feelings like other patriots who do, and now they are multimillionaires!”
