A 47 year-old employee at an Australian warehouse is under arrest after investigators tied him to the theft of $600,000 dollary-doos worth of coins depicting the popular character “Bluey,” from the eponymous animated children’s series about a family of dogs, the Australian ABC News reports.
Thing is that the coins aren’t strictly collector’s items but actual legal tender that the Australian national mint was about to put into circulation because Queen Elizabeth II is dead and they need some other global cultural icon on their currency. Meaning Steven John Neilson wasn’t some weirdo into kids’ cartoons but a regular, normal criminal stupid enough to get caught.
