Former Florida woman Sheila Keen-Warren, who in 2023 pleaded guilty to a 1990 murder in which she dressed up like a clown, knocked on the door of her boss’s 40 year-old wife Marlene Warren, and fatally shot her romantic rival in the face, was released from prison on Saturday, having served just 18 months for a bit of home-wrecking as she literally married Warren’s husband, the AP reports
It took prosecutors nearly 27 years to develop the evidence to charge Keen-Warren with the crime, even though the fact that she married her boss after his wife was knocked off should’ve been enough. The trial has been delayed since 2017 due to other issues and the pandemic. Investigators had recovered fibers from the orange clown wig from the crime scene and the Chrysler Le Baron that Keen-Warren drove as the damning proof of the evil clownery that took Marlene Warren’s life.
Keen-Warren, who maintained her innocence even after her plea to second degree murder, was sentenced to 12 years in prison. But she had been in custody for seven years since her arrest in 2017, and Florida’s law in 1990 allowed significant credit for good behavior behind bars.
