Ughhhhhh man… This is really where you’re at in life, bro? Kevin McCarthy has based-God laser eyes now? Fuuuuuck. What makes this even lamer is how far removed Matt Gaetz’s humiliation is from anything McCarthy ever did. Like it’d be more than justifiable to tweet this if a McCarthy-backed primary challenger had felled Gaetz earlier this year. Not only did that not happen there, it didn’t happen to any of the 2023 palace coup plotters that ended Kev’s career. He can’t even take credit for Bob Good losing to that John McGuire douchebag in Virginia. That was all Trump.

Yes, McCarthy did affirmatively decide to continue the House Ethics probe the Dem-majority had launched in 2021, which was Gaetz’s real reason for backing the coup. Yes, the final report from that investigation, even unreleased, probably derailed Gaetz more than anything else. But even without it there still would’ve been a shit ton of negative press – plenty of what we have today is coming from the civil cases far outside of the Ethics Committee – and it’s very fair to question whether Gaetz would have survived the ordeal. The hearings would’ve been a fucking historic shitshow.

Hence why Mike Lawler looks like even more of a tool than usual here. Even trying to frame it as some kind of karmic retribution is just so homophobic-slur-ish. McCarthy simply does not have the last laugh here and it’s incredibly douchey to somehow suggest he’s even laughing at all.
