Officials with centrist German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s teetering government on Monday attempted to downplay any potential impact that ketamine-brained billionaire Elon Musk’s op-ed endorsing the Fourth Reich extremist Alternative for Deutschland party (AfD) might end up having on next month’s snap elections, with government spokeswoman Christiane Hoffmann saying simply that “Freedom of expression also includes the greatest nonsense” in response, the Associated Press reports.
“It is indeed the case that Elon Musk is trying to influence the federal election through his statement,” Hoffman added and yeah, no shit. Musk wrote that the AfD “is the last spark of hope for this country,” for “a future where economic prosperity, cultural integrity and technological innovation are not just wishes, but reality,” in the piece printed Saturday in Welt am Sonntag newspaper.
Musk was praised as “one of our most valuable, important, and witty fighters” and awarded the Grand Cross of the German Eagle by the AfD for his writings in support of their ideology and – Oh wait, got some of that mixed up. That was Henry Ford getting praised by future Holocaust ringleader and SS chief Heinrich Himmler in 1924 for writing “The International Jew” and then in 1938 a Nazi delegation conferred Ford with the Grand Cross, their highest honor for foreigners.
Close enough, even though the AP’s article contained no word of a response to the op-ed from the AfD themselves. It’s quite possible they’re just a little ambivalent about Musk’s support given that it came right in the middle of that deranged H-1B shitshow the ultrawealthy sociopath had poured gasoline on. While the hardest of the hardcore MAGA want all forms of immigration ceased immediately, the median Republican voter/politician is a bit more nuanced and flexible.
Not to mention convicted felon President-Elect Trump himself, as evidenced by his statements to the New York Post – ones that were not well received by regular MAGA “volk,” to say the least.
The AfD? Considering their entire founding principle is reversing the influx of brown immigrants to Germany no matter their circumstances of ingress – refugees, illegals, work visas, whatever – it’s pretty hard to see them saying “We should totally import Indian engineers to keep our tech industry competitive. That’s exactly what the last spark of hope for Germany cultural integrity needs.”

We’ll see how it works out for the AfD. They’re probably going to have to say something sooner or later. Either way, it’s lucky them they don’t have a Klaus Von Trump “in charge” of their party, constantly simping to Musk out of laziness and insecurity. Otherwise AfD influencers would be coping impotently for all to see, wishcasting that the sellout somehow isn’t real but a conspiracy by the Murdoch media cabal.
