At least 10 people, children among them, suffered minor injuries Tuesday when staff at a Peabody, Massachusetts arcade/fun center attempted to drop a net full of balloons onto revelers as part of an early New Year’s Eve countdown-type celebration, only to have the line pull down a large, bulky display made of Lego bricks and send it crashing down onto those present, the Guardian reports.
“Large Lego pieces were everywhere, kids were crying, there were tons of people all in the office, some with ice packs over their heads and people allowing their children to steal the Lego pieces like souvenirs,” a witness told WBZ-TV of the “pure chaos” of the scene. Eight were hospitalized.
