Another Congress with a House GOP majority, another complete fucking shitshow in works for performing the most basic of functions: Electing a Speaker of The House. That, unlike feckless worm now former Congressman Kevin McCarthy was during the absolute embarrassment that was the chamber’s election in 2023, Mike Johnson already is the Speaker of the House is meaningless, there’s still no placating these freaks. Worse, there’s an even smaller Republican majority than there was last time and even more uncertainty that Johnson will still hold the gavel next week. All that said, the uncertainty works both ways and Señor Jesus Dork really could have it over and done with after one vote. McCarthy faced 20-odd defections in the worst of the 15 rounds he went. Johnson’s will very likely be lower, maybe even low enough to clinch in the first vote. Maybe.
