Convicted felon President Trump on Saturday reposted a meme apparently warning that “the media” will be lying about kids and families being deported while deliberately ignoring that shirtless, sweaty men with tattoos will be the ones actually shipped off to their home countries.
The meme originated with Truth Social user “Kit Roupe”, who wrote “Really?! The Mayor of Chicago and the Gov of Illinois need to be truthful with their constituents. (Watch Tik Tok below). They’d have you believe the media lie too…” above the meme. The TikTok video is of Gov JB Pritzker at a press conference on Thursday, and nothing he says in the clip has anything to do with exempting children and their parents from deportation while only rounding up shirtless, sweaty, tattooed men.
The point of that failed attempt to parse what was actually going on in the Truth Social-verse being to point out what can be more widely understood, whether it was Trump’s intent or not, as him getting ahead of what will be some ugly scenes when, not if, children and families get rounded up and interned. Back during the 2018 family separations shitshow Trump and his ballsucking cultists seized on a circa 2013 photo of an unaccompanied minor locked in a cage to say “Trump isn’t caging children, that was Obama’s policy” while simultaneously claiming that detaining children and parents was a necessary and justifiable measure. That’s not going to be so easy this time when you have his minions saying that schools can be raided, that US citizen children of undocumented migrants can be deported too – Trump himself literally said that last month – or end up in the foster system.
It’s not like saying the media’s going to be lying about that is a good way of getting out in front of what will metastasize into a hell of a blowback. It’s definitely a way to do it however.
