Virginia Republicans are gearing up to run pretty much the same campaign this November as they did in 2021 when affable suburban dad vest guy Glenn Youngkin defeated Dem former Gov Terry McAuliffe as Lt Gov Winsome Sears gets ready to take on her most likely Dem opponent, former Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger, NBC News reports, writing that they’re more or less just going to swap out Critical Race Theory for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in a “parents’ rights” campaign.

“It will be a big part of their campaign, just as it was in 2021,” said Virginia GOP strategist Zack Roday, sounding extra confident. “It first nicely into the ‘common-sense arguments.’ It fits nice in there with ‘kitchen-table issues.’ It’s a great way to put Democrats on defense.”

The thing about the whole Critical Race Theory scam is that it was just the MAGA icing on a real cake of legitimate frustration with school closures on the tail end of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was by then the third school year in a row of disruptions to young lives caused by closures and masking, shit that had a severe impact on families. People were beyond fed up and wanted to take it out on Democrats, right or wrong. “We’re going to fix our schools” was the message spoken. Independent voters heard “We’ll stop closing entire schools every time a kid gets the sniffles” while the MAGA scumbags heard “WE’RE BANNING WHITE GUILT FROM THE CLASSROOM! FUCK YEAH!”

And this is before another nine months of convicted felon President Trump doing everything he can to piss off the hundreds of thousands of federal government employees that live in Northern Virginia, to say nothing of how things are going to go with the economy and the inflation his fuckery is going to cause. So yeah, Republicans probably have their work cut out for them in this race.
