A new CBS News/YouGov national survey finds just 53 percent of Republican voter respondents expecting convicted felon President Trump’s “policies will make the price you pay for food and groceries” go down while 28 percent said they expected no change and 19 percent said they actually expected them to go up. Overall 51 percent of respondents said they think prices will go up, including 84 percent of Dems and 53 percent of indies. Just 28 percent overall expect a decrease.
On the question of egg prices “in your area have been” going up or down, there’s a 19 point difference between 75 percent of Dems and 56 percent Republicans saying they noticed an increase. Among independents it’s 61 percent noticed an increase which is pretty close to the overall 63 percent. So that’s more motivated reasoning on the Dems’ part than Republicans.
Also funny is the extremely low number of Republican respondents’ willing to answer whether or not they think Trump’s batshit suggestion that the US seize control of Gaza is a good idea: Overall 13 percent said good, 47 percent bad, and 40 percent said “Not sure yet/it depends.” Among Dems this was 5 percent good to 73 percent bad to 22 percent don’t know, while among GOP voters 26 percent said it’s a good idea, 20 percent bad, and 54 percent “Not sure yet/it depends,” meaning far too many Republican voters dare not say out loud in an online poll that it’s a bad idea.
