The fat campy drag queen-ish president also confused executive orders with laws, since defying an executive order is by definition not “ILLEGAL.” If it was, he could just send the FBI, rather than “ordering local authorities” to show up an incite a riot at some high school girls’ lacrosse game or whatever the fuck it was he saw in some QAnon fan’s video in his Truth Social feed.

All that being said, trans women and girls should just find co-ed sports programs to play in. It’s a hill very few people who are otherwise supportive of LGBTQ rights feel like dying on and in a way it’s antithetical to liberalism writ large, irrespective of the MAGA propaganda-industrial complex’s habit of acting like it’s a nationwide epidemic when there are what, a half-dozen documented cases of it over the last decade? If a core principle of American cultural liberalism is a resistance to impositions on one’s personal life – who you can marry, whether you can smoke weed, whether you as a woman can make your own healthcare decisions – then isn’t putting a trans athlete on the field an imposition on the cisgender players? No school athletic conference would allow a 6’7 high school senior on a middle school boys’ basketball team, so follow the same logic when it comes to athletes’ gender.

Without getting into it further this simply is not an issue worth fighting over. It’s a circle that cannot be squared and thus need be dealt with in a gentle, respectful way toward people whose lives are already difficult enough. Removing it as a political wedge for the Republicunts would in the longer run make the world safer for trans people. Defending something that isn’t all that defensible simply isn’t tenable, irrespective of how isolated and ghoulishly exaggerated a “problem” it is.
