A swarm of jellyfish, a marine invertebrate literally dumber than a lot of plants, has forced a shutdown of the Gravelines nuclear power plant in northern France after they floated into a canal that draws water from the North Sea to cool the plutonium rods, the Guardian reports.
It’s not the first time this has happened at a nuke plant and probably won’t be the last unless jellyfish are exterminated from the earth’s oceans by an engineered virus or something.
