Republican Vermont state Senator Sam Douglass, a 27 year-old man and not a “college” kid like JD Vance claimed last week, announced his resignation Friday, effective Monday, following the leak of a group chat of national Young Republicans in which the participants had expressed their love for Adolf Hitler, rape, racial slurs, genocide, and in general checked a lot of boxes of how the GOP is perceived by libs, SevenDaysVT reports. In the thread, leaked to Politico last week by extreme cultist former New York City Young Republicans chair-turned-Trump Regime official Gavin Wax, Douglass wrote “She just didn’t bathe often,” in reply to another user who had badmouthed a “very obese Indian woman,” known to them. In another exchange, Douglass mentioned a procedural error by a Jewish colleague to which his wife, Brianna Douglass, also in the chat group, wrote “I was about to say you’re giving nationals [too] much credit and expecting the Jew to be honest.”
Douglass, once seen as an up-and-comer in the Green Mountain State’s GOP, had initially resisted calls to hang it up but once the state party and Governor Phil Scott – who’s basically a Democrat anyway – stepped in, the neckbearded state legislator caved, writing “if my Governor asks me to do something, I will act, because I believe in what he’s trying to do for Vermont,” in his announcement.
That part came after when Douglass tried to minimize what he had personally wrote in the group chat which, on balance, was not as bad as the lines about “watermelon people” and the pro-rape “jokes.” Obviously if Sam had written something antisemitic about the Jewish person that would’ve been printed verbatim along with his wife’s response. And the “She just didn’t bathe often” – the sole message from him in the coverage of the chat group – doesn’t in and of itself scream racism as he could’ve said the same thing if this person had been named. But that Douglass never wrote “You guys are fucking sick and this is exactly why the libtards call Republicans hateful, racist freaks,” and left the chat the first time someone posted a slur – let alone apologize for his wife and announce he was looking to get her into therapy – says far more than a single five-word message could have.
Sam and Briana Douglass marching forth.
THAT’s why Douglass was pushed out. In a total vacuum, if just that reply about a woman’s hygiene and even Brianna’s anti-semitism had leaked, he 100 percent absolutely would have survived this.
Instead he’s finished, but not before claiming he’s the real victim:
We just had a baby. Our first. We struggled with fertility for years and we were lucky. I was on paternity leave as of last week and I was just returning to legislative work when this story broke. So, we’re still trying to put our house back together and catch up on sleep. Yet, I have received some of the most horrific hate one could imagine. Between calling my wife a “whore” and others including phrases like, “we wiped you nazi trash out once and we will again you doublechin, nojawlined incel fuckface,” “Your baby would be better off dead,” “I hope your baby gets raped,” “This world is better off without you,” and “You’re wife is a fat ugly pig and needs to be muzzled like a dog.” Many of these were made by Vermonters. We’ve even heard about an online petition circling to have our baby taken away from us.
Lol at “doublechin, nojawlined incel fuckface.” The rest are obviously horrible threats – at which Douglass is appalled when it’s directed at him and his family. He was at best ambivalent when his buddy, former New York State Young Republicans chair Pete Giunta wrote “Everyone that votes against” his nomination as national chair “is going to the gas chamber” in the group chat.
Oh wait, “You’re [sic] wife is a fat ugly pig and needs to be muzzled like a dog,” isn’t a threat, it’s just a subjective opinion of her appearance, and fine with Sam if the woman’s “very obese” and Indian.
This is far worse than anything said in a college group chat, and the guy who said it could become the AG of Virginia. I refuse to join the pearl clutching when powerful people call for political violence. pic.twitter.com/kV57Wq7BLG

Douglass’s resignation makes Jaydee look even more cunty than he first did in this completely unprompted tweet from last week. Nobody had asked him to respond, he just did it, evidently without checking if MAYBE one of the participants in the “college chat” might’ve been an elected state legislator. National Zero has largely skipped the MAGA fap session over former Dem former Virginia state Delegate and Attorney General nominee Jay Jones, who was in the middle of losing his shit over Republicans’ “policy preferences” resulting in kids getting slaughtered in schools when he texted hoping that a GOP delegate’s kids were killed too among other extreme messages.
Also understand that, for all the sick, damning shit that Jones – who should resign from the Attorney Generalship immediately if he’s elected – wrote, they’re all at least downstream of a just cause in one way or another. Can’t exactly say the same thing about “I’d go to the zoo if I wanted to watch monkeys play ball” as Pete Giunta wrote to express his distaste for the NBA in the YR chat.
It isn’t enough for Gavin Wax to resign from NYYRC, he needs to be fired and ostracized from politics immediately.@DarrenJBeattie and Sarah Rogers need to do the right thing and stop protecting him.

Even more pointless – and “tragic” for those caught in the blast radius like Douglass – is the reason why Gavin Wax leaked these texts in the first place, according to the Daily Beast:
Wax was left out of a photo op with Trump and blamed Giunta for it.
Seriously. “Once friends, the two allegedly found themselves at odds over a photo opportunity with then-presidential candidate Trump during his campaign rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, in May 2024.”
“Sources close to Giunta told the Daily Beast that ‘a miscommunication’ resulted in Wax being left out of the photo with Trump, for which he blamed Giunta, 31. It wasn’t until this year – while Giunta was running on a pro-Trump slate to lead the Young Republican National Federation – that he discovered Wax had never fully recovered from the incident, and was allegedly enacting revenge through support for Giunta’s opponent, Hayden Padgett” (Wax is Jewish, hence the “Everyone that votes no is going to the gas chamber,” and probably why Nick Fuentes doesn’t like him either).
Keep in mind Wax, also 31, already has a job in the Trump Administration at the State Department while Giunta was chief of staff to some scrub GOP New York State Assemblyman before he was canned this week over the group chat. Wax had already won and then just decided to destroy Giunta anyway because he didn’t call him to make his way to the photo line in freaking Wildwood last year.
Did Sam Douglass have anything to do with that? Who the hell knows, but probably not, which must make the immolation of his career in Republican politics even that much more heartbreaking.

Lucky for him the architectural gem of a state capitol in Montpelier is open to members of the public.
