A year after having suffered what was absolutely the most horrific and cruel defeat in modern political history, you could say that the folks in the anti-MAGA coalition have extinguished whatever exuberance and hubris existed within them and replaced it with pure grit and searing vendetta. First quarter of a four-year slog that’s just one chapter in what will be a generational fight to not just restore sanity and decency to public life, but ensure that never again do the least among us have any significant voice in power… NOW you can go back and forth all you want about the accuracy of that rosy read of the most engaged members of the blue electorate is accurate, nobody’s ever seriously going to expect the same from the Trump fanboys because holy shit they right are back to form after Tuesday’s beatdown. “Can’t the voters claim they are disenfranchised (Democrats favorite word) if 44 percent of the state is popular vote for Republicans, but only 10 percent of the congressional representatives end up Republican? They are not getting adequate representation” – Top comment on Fox News’s California Prop 50 passage article. Of course this asshole has never heard of Wisconsin, about as close to 50-50 in 2024 as you can get but 6 of 8 Congressional districts are still held by Republicans.

The actual speeding ticket Jones got is was for doing 85 in 55 mph zone in 2022, but the exaggeration aside, lol. Didn’t another politician get convicted of 34 felonies and then get “rewarded by dumbass voters” in the form of being spared from likely dying in prison for his crimes?

Meaning you can probably take his word for it on his vote – and on that of everyone else he knows in what’s probably some small town up in the Sierra Nevadas or maybe the Central Valley. Two or three dozen MAGA Californians in his social circle telling him they voted no is the proof he needs to (apparently) imply that the vote was somehow rigged.

It’s unimaginable to me that people would rather get a hand out than put in hard work and be rewarded for that work. Monetarily and the reward your souls gets from being productive. This is like if the disembodied id of a Ron Brownstein column was made flesh and its sole purpose was to prove his points with subatomic-level tautological precision, lol. It doesn’t matter if this is a troll (unlikely given the paywall), it was still the “Best” comment and the other paid subscribers upvoted in agreement. Still, a small shred of sympathy for the red stater’s bewilderment. It’s just as hard for blue voters to understand why MAGAmericans think a fat fuck preoccupied with building a magnificent ballroom on public property is somehow “fighting” for them.

Still wrong on a few points: It was a bloodbath nationally when Mikie Sherrill won by 13 in a race that was supposed to be a “toss-up.” Davey Bowman bled pretty badly. Trump probably could win mayor of Miami.
So much for Democrats wanting to “tone it down.”

But…” in which some d-bag named Mark Lewis writes that before Tuesday he’d “had some hopes. After ten months of the good things Trump has done for the country, there was hope that maybe, just maybe, some people were being converted, some hearts were being changed, some Americans were starting to see the difference between the ‘right’ and the ‘left,’ between good and evil, starting to see cause and effect. And maybe some are. I certainly don’t know the heart of every American. But if hearts are being changed, that wasn’t in evidence on November 4. The Republicans, Trump, got slaughtered,” words which led the commenter to fucking threaten us with a good time.
Flipping it to the Republican candidates — Trump got 600,000 more votes than either Republican Governor candidate did in Virginia or New Jersey. Without him on the ballot, Trump supporters stayed home, but Trump haters were still likely to vote.

If anyone’s got a better way to elucidate the capacious void that is their self-awareness. A fucking MAGA troll lecturing other voters on “feelings” invites that kind of hyperbole.
