For over a decade now, convicted felon President Trump’s approval ratings as president and candidate were always stuck in a band often described as “low ceiling, high floor” by the same class of tiresome and mediocre political pundits that would also throw around “take Trump literally but not seriously” and then not do anything to explain what the fuck that was supposed to mean. That that it might in fact actually be “seriously but not literally” says about everything you need to know.
But the first of those cliches of the highly overrated and deeply uninteresting in the opinion class was, on top of being more accessible, largely pretty true with very few exceptions during Trump’s ignominious reign atop the Republican Party and the most powerful office in the world. Trump’s approval very rarely stayed above or below the low 40s in most mainstream polls, which itself was a sticky layer on top of that low-30s range of overall respondents that would always agree with the most maximalist MAGA positions, like 32 percent who last July told the same pollster he was never involved in Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes to 40 percent approve. The 30 percent overall respondents last September – also an Economist/YouGov survey – who called Trump honest vs the 39 percent who approved. The 36 percent (slightly above the range) who in 2024 told ABC/Ipsos the fat fuck won his sole debate against Kamala Harris vs 46 percent who said they were going to vote for him.
Could continue with plenty more examples but you got the gist and more important is the reality that decade-old delta appears to be closing as this week’s Economist/YouGov national survey finds Donald at his lowest approval rating ever in their history: 34 percent to to 62 percent disapprove.
That’s eight points lower than the 42 to 53 percent approve/disapprove on fucking January 19, 2021, after a year of death and misery from plague and political violence exacerbated by his malevolence and incompetence at doing even the fucking basics of national crisis management.
Fauci dairy shows he ate up press attention as he grew disdainful toward Trump: 'very dangerous man' https://t.co/s1RzNQYrh0

But hey, gas was pretty cheap back then. Remember? Plus that Anthony Fauci was a slippery character, as his “dairy” entries reveal. Almost slippery enough for Trump to fire him.
Of course there’s some reason to celebrate rather than lament as this low of an approval does in all likelihood portend a fucking nightmare of a November for the Reich, it’s still just pretty tragic too that it’s Trump’s completely predictable failure to deliver on his false 2024 campaign promises – and actually exacerbating the problems he was again elected to address – rather than him inciting a violent assault on the US Capitol at the tail end of a pandemic year of death and misery.
Not really the best look for the American people. Yes, “34 percent is still too high” is a very interesting observation, but that 8 percent should gnaw at you maybe just a little bit moreso. That the fat fuck is in power again at all after his failed first term should tell you that far too many voters are susceptible to absolute bullshit and simply won’t take yes for the answer to the question of “Can I just tune out and forget about politics?” That yes stood next to the Orange Baby and embarrassed him in front of the whole nation in September 2024 but 10 percent still wouldn’t take it.
There’s no clean answer to this problem besides winning big in 2026, winning even bigger in 2028, and then using that mandate to dismantle conservative power structures while also delivering more equity. The first part is even more important than the second, because things will only be so good when there’s Fox News and mentally-diseased scrotums like John Solomon telling them that they’re actually bad while also just asking questions about rumors that President AOC is prepping an executive order to spay and neuter all public school kids before forcibly converting them to Islam.
MAGA delenda est. Otherwise it’s just going to be the same hamster wheel every single election and a 34 percent approval rating for this fat, illegitimate fuck is but one squeak of it.
