In a Tuesday night video address about the Nashville Covenant School shooting, Tennessee Governor Billy Lee revealed that one of the victims, substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, was one of Lee’s wife Maria’s “best friends,” Fox News reports on what’s probably a bit of an awkward situation.
“Cindy was supposed to come over and have dinner with Maria last night after she filled in as a substitute teacher yesterday,” Lee said, adding that Maria Lee, Peak and another victim, school head Katherine Koonce, all had previously taught together and “have been family friends for decades.”
What does Lee tell their families now? “I am so sorry for your loss. I will this week introduce legislation to ban people from using different pronouns than the ones assigned at birth so this heinous crime never happens again. We’ll call it ‘Cynthia’s Law’ to honor you mom”? Will he call in the Tennessee chapter of the Oath Keepers for a 21 round AR-15 salute? Will six white doves be released so the Oath Keepers have something to shoot at during the salute?
