Asked by Fox Corp’s gullible, deluded and dishonest host Maria Bartiromo about his thoughts on David Weiss, the newly-named Special Counsel in the Hunter Biden investigation whom Cruz voted to confirm in 2018, Texas Republican Senator–and the man who personified the adage “When the going gets tough, the tough get going” as he fled to Cancun while other did the hard work of fixing a powerless Texas–Ted Cruz responds:

“Well, this appointment is camouflage and its cover-up.  I-I-I think it’s disgraceful.  Listen, David Weiss was the US Attorney hand-picked to lead this investigation [Ed. note:  That’s true.  Donald Trump hand-picked Weiss to head the US District in Delaware, where Trump targeted Hunter Biden.] who spent the last five years covering it up.  David Weiss, who was personally selected by the two Democrat Senators from Delaware, Tom Carper and Chris Coons [Ed. note:  This is a lie.  Presidents select US Attorneys, not Senators.  The Delaware Senators gave “blue slip” endorsements of Trump’s selection; they didn’t select Weiss themselves.]. … Not only that, David Weiss is the one who is subject to two whistleblower complaints from senior career IRS officials [Ed. note:  the two were investigators, Gary Shapley (a special agent) and Joseph Ziegler (a case agent) are not “senior” officials.] who came forward.  They said they’ve never seen an investigation like this.”

Also note again:  Ted Cruz voted to approve Donald Trump’s nomination of David Weiss to be the US Attorney for Delaware in 2018 while on the Senate Judiciary Committee.  So Cruz is lambasting a Trump-appointed attorney for whom he voted to approve because when one must defend the Party’s titular leader, one’s own pride and honor must be sacrificed.  Ted Cruz is vary familiar with this, as we witnessed in 2016.
