Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department corrections officials might have a bit of a pickle on their hands Wednesday as a new wildfire broke out about five miles north of the county clink in the town of Castaic, with no plans to evacuate the jailbirds, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The Times writes that the biggest problem right now is the sheriff’s department’s shortage of buses capable of securing inmates as the county’s corrections fleet is down to just 20 out of 82 usable vehicles. A department spokesperson told the Times on Wednesday that there are other state and local resources available but did not specify anything about what those resources would be.
