A former manager at a Taco Bell location in Pittsburgh went on trial Wednesday over a November 2022 incident in which he went a little overboard with his firing powers after an altercation with a team member upset over being “written up” for some violation of the code of conduct, WPXI reports.
Specifically rather than firing staff member Dorian Carver, as in terminate his employment, manager Zaiyre Simmons fired a pistol at Carver, as in terminating his life. Jurors were shown surveillance video of Simmons and Carver arguing in the fast food joint, then physically fighting, and then Carver exiting the premises with Simmons on his trail. Carver had called a person for a ride as he fled down the road but was then shot dead in front of a nearby Northwestern Mutual insurance office.
It’s not clear what Carver’s code of Taco Bell conduct violation was or why Simmons was willing to kill to uphold the commitment to integrity expected from every member of the Taco Bell family.
